METHODOLOGICAL GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES

In addition to research activities, the institute methodically directs professional psychological care for children / students in norms and pathology. Special care is given to students with special educational needs, especially students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, students with behavioral disorders, students with learning disabilities, gifted students, etc.

VÚDPaP is mandated to methodically and professionally guide and coordinate the activities of all components of the counseling and prevention system in education, as an important part of the implementation of scientific knowledge in practice. It deals with the issue of comprehensive counseling and prevention for students until the end of vocational training with the perspective of expanding its scope to the integration of individual components of the counseling system.

It prepares proposals and recommendations resulting from the obtained results and knowledge and submits them to state and public administration bodies and other institutions in whose competence it is to be responsible for the care of children and pupils.

It sets and directs professional processes and activities in the system of educational counseling and prevention and supervision of these activities.

It ensures the setting and revitalization of quality standards of services provided within the system of educational counseling and prevention.

VÚDPaP implements methodological guidance activities mainly:

  • developing methodological guidelines for professional activities
  • by elaboration of expertise and expert opinions according to the requirements of the field, resp. state and public administration bodies
  • by mentoring, coaching and supervision of professional activities

An important activity of VÚDPaP in the field of methodological guidance is also cooperation in further education of employees of regional education schools and employees of counseling system facilities in education, namely:

  • by creation and implementation of accredited continuing education programs
  • by creation and implementation of short-term training directly tailored to the needs of the practice of the counseling system

ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM OF EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING AND PREVENTION

It provides comprehensive psychological, special pedagogical, diagnostic, educational, counseling and preventive care to children in addition to children with disabilities, especially in the field of optimizing their personal, educational and professional development, care for talent development, elimination of mental development disorders and behavioral disorders. It provides consulting services to legal representatives and pedagogical staff

It provides comprehensive special pedagogical activities, psychological, diagnostic, counseling, rehabilitation, preventive, methodological, educational and other professional activities and a set of special pedagogical interventions for children with disabilities, including children with developmental disorders in order to achieve optimal personality development and social integration.

OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM OF EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING AND PREVENTION

The educational counselor:

Provides and participates in the provision of educational counseling in the field of education and training according to a special regulation 46) in the form of information, coordination, consulting, methodological and other related activities. At the same time, it mediates professional therapeutic and educational activities according to the needs of the child and the pupil. The activities of an educational counselor can also be performed by a professional employee

Career counselor:

Performs activities in the preparation of students for their entry into the labor market. The activities of a career counselor can also be performed by a professional employee

School psychologist:

Performs professional activities in the field of orientational psychological diagnostics, individual, group or collective psychological counseling, psychotherapy, prevention and intervention for children and pupils with special regard to the process of education in schools and school facilities; also performs professional activities of psychological counseling in the field of family, partner and other social relationships. Provides psychological counseling and counseling to legal representatives and pedagogical staff of schools and school facilities. Prepares materials for professional employees of counseling facilities

School special:

Pedagogue performs professional activities in the field of special pedagogical diagnostics, individual, group or group counseling and intervention for children and pupils with mental disabilities, hearing impairments, visual impairments, physical disabilities, impaired communication skills, autism or other pervasive developmental disorders, multiple disabilities, multiple disabilities, debilitated, developmental disorders and professional activities associated with the re-education of behavioral disorders. Provides special pedagogical counseling and consultations to legal representatives of children or pupils and pedagogical staff of schools and school facilities

Medical teacher:

Carries out professional activities within the framework of therapeutic and educational assistance to children and pupils who have developmental or behavioral disorders and are unable to lead an age-appropriate way of life due to their health disadvantage or its consequences, or to children and pupils whose mental, emotional or social development is endangered. Provides therapeutic and educational assistance and counseling to legal representatives of children and pupils and pedagogical staff of schools and school facilities, including professional activities related to the re-education of behavioral disorders

Social pedagogue:

Performs professional activities within the framework of prevention, intervention and provision of counseling especially for children and pupils endangered by socio-pathological phenomena, from socially disadvantaged environment, drug addicts or otherwise disadvantaged children and pupils, their legal representatives and pedagogical staff of schools and school facilities. The social pedagogue fulfills the tasks of social education, support of prosocial, ethical behavior, socio-pedagogical diagnostics of the environment and relationships, socio-pedagogical counseling, prevention of socio-pathological phenomena and behavioral education. Performs expert and educational activities

Prevention coordinator:

Performs specialized activities in the field of prevention of socio-pathological phenomena

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES

Diagnostic center:

Among other things, it provides diagnostics to children with impaired or endangered psychosocial development in order to determine further appropriate educational, resocialization or reeducational care

Re-education center:

On the basis of an educational program and an individual reeducation program, it provides children up to the age of 18 with the possibility of extension by one year of education and training, including vocational training, with the aim of their reintegration into the original social environment at the child's request.

Medical and educational sanatorium:

It provides psychological, psychotherapeutic care and upbringing and education to children with developmental learning disabilities and children with activity and attention disorders for whom outpatient care has not led to correction.
